As we approach the end of the year we want to be intentional in the ways that we reflect back and consider all that the Lord has done in our midst. And we want to be purposeful in our thanksgiving to God for all those wondrous things that He has done in and through our church.
We have much to thank the Lord for and much to rejoice over! As we come to the close of this year, the Elders of Summit Church really desire your prayers in seeking the Lord’s grace to allow us to finish 2018 strong, granting us the ability to be postured well in 2019.
The passage of Scripture that the Lord has been using to shape our thoughts regarding the end of 2018 and beginning of next year is Psalm 67:1-2. The NIV states it this way:
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us— so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.”
The psalmist is not shy in asking for God to bless them bountifully and why should he be? Our God is a good, good Father who delights in giving good things to His children. We want to imitate this prayerful posture. As we do so, it’s vital to observe that the heart in such a prayer is not for selfish gain or private ambition, it’s for a greater purpose beyond our own well-being.
The psalmist asks for God’s blessing and favor so that he in turn would take that which God would entrust to him to be used for God’s gospel purposes. And that’s our aim as well as we push towards the end of this year…“That Your Ways May Be Known”.
Our desire to finish out the budget year strongly is so that we can continue to do what we have always sought to do - extend the mission of God way beyond the walls of our buildings for the sake of the gospel and for the glory of God. Would you join us in prayer, in participation and in expectancy that the Lord would hear our prayers, receive our offering and use it in such a fashion that His ways may be known? Thank you for your partnership in the gospel!
