When Sinners Say "I Do".
Marriage is the union of two people who arrive at the altar toting some surprisingly large luggage. Often it gets opened right there on the honeymoon, sometimes it waits for the week after. The Bible calls it sin and understanding its influence can make all the difference for a man and a woman who are building a life together.
This conference, featuring author Dave Harvey, embraces the listener with humor and honesty as he speaks about sin and the power of the gospel to overcome it. He opens the delightful truth of God’s word and encourages the reader to see more clearly the glorious picture of what God does when sinners say “I do.”
When: February 19th and 20th (Friday 7-9pm, Saturday 9am-12pm)
Where: UNV campus
“Dave Harvey skillfully exposed the real root of most marriage problems — each spouse is still a sinner. But he doesn’t leave us to wallow in our sin. He shows the way out through the ongoing power of the gospel. This book will be helpful for any married couple whether they’ve been married five weeks or fifty years.”
~ Jerry Bridges, author of The Pursuit of Holiness
Dave Harvey serves as the Pastor of Preaching at Four Oaks Community Church in Tallahassee, FL and is also the Founder of AmICalled.com. He serves as the Chairman of the board of the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation, as well as the Chairman of the Board of the Sojourn Network.
Dave has written a number of books, including Am I Called, Rescuing Ambition, and When Sinners Say “I Do.” Dave lives in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife, Kimm. They have four grown children.
Women from all three campuses are invited to join our new Bible study this Thursday morning from 9:30am - 11:45am in the Multipurpose Room at the University Campus. We are doing a Nancy Guthrie study entitled "The Wisdom of God." This is an in-depth study of the Wisdom Literature of the Bible, with the goal of understanding it in the way that Jesus himself taught the disciples to read and understand it: with Him at the center. Childcare is provided.
We will also have a Bible study on Thursday evenings, beginning on January 21st, from 6:30pm - 8:15pm at our Naples Multi-purpose Facility. We will be going through the study "The Armor of God" by Priscilla Shirer. For more information, please email Wendy Caudill at wendy@summitlife.com.
At the start of every New Year, Summit Student Ministries goes away for a long weekend for intentional discipleship training. This retreat away from home has become known as GO/LOVE. With an emphasis on passionately pursuing God and growing relationally with their peers, the students who attended GO/LOVE this year were challenged to live out a life that glorifies God.

You might not think two nights away from home would be enough time for a teenager to be affected and moved to live a gospel-centered life. However, many of the 100 students who attended, caught the vision and left GO/LOVE excited to share with their friends and family all that God had taught them. In fact, several students returned to their schools and shared with their friends what God had said to them that weekend, and invited them to start going to SSM with them on a regular basis.
GO/LOVE has become an exciting retreat that the students look forward to each and every year. It’s a time where our middle and high school students can get away and unplug and really seek the Father and His desire for their lives. Not only does each student come away from GO/LOVE excited, but every leader who attends always leaves saying, “I’m tired, but that was awesome.” GO/LOVE is one of those trips that comes and goes in the blink of an eye, but it stays with you for a lifetime. All the preparation, planning and prayer that goes into GO/LOVE is always worth it when we see teenagers go to a new level in their faith and in their love of Jesus.

This month we are celebrating baptism at all three of our campuses; participating in a physical act that represents the life, death and resurrection of Christ on our behalf. If you have trusted in Christ and would like to be baptized, click on the button below to fill out our application.
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
ROMANS 6:4
Every year, on Orphan Sunday, we gather together as a church for an evening of worship and prayer regarding our Every Child Initiative. The Every Child Initiative exists to glorify God by envisioning, equipping and empowering disciples to have gospel impact in the lives of vulnerable children. Our desire is that everyone who calls Summit Church “home” will partner with us in this gospel-motivated initiative and act on behalf of the vulnerable children who live in our communities and around our world.
Please join us on November 8th at 6pm at our UNV campus as we ask God how he would have us take action on behalf of vulnerable children. Childcare is provided.
